day 1

Hi all

Well here we are in Bali again (Mum a nd I - the boys didn't want to come!!!)

We arrived last night at about 7pm (to the hotel) after a 90 min departure delay in Brisbane. The hotel is a new one call the Garden View Cottages and it is fine for the money we have paid, we move on Friday morning to another place that is cheaper, but is meant to be better.

We are at our 3rd internet cafe for the day, the previous tow "Fast Internet" cafes were so slow that we gave up, I mean waiting 12 min for the bigpond page to download isn't exactly fast. We have ended up going to a place that we have used in the past which is miles out of our way, but we knew it would be good.

The flight over was uneventful, Mum did her best not to catch the eye of any drunk cigar smoking Germans so we were pretty bored.

We have already been hard at it, we have checked the day spa at our hotel and it looks very promising. We have also checked out one of our Jewellery places and will do a clothing order, once we have finished here and had some lunch - won ton soup today.

Because we have only been here for a half day there really isn't anything that exciting to relay, although I was asking in one shop how much some net food covers were and I grabbed one of the top shelf to find that it was full of rat shit, that was really nice!!

Hope this finds you well

Hi everyone

Well day two is now here, with lots of dramas from home. The boys got a call from our shop at Wooloowin and the window has been smashed in. What a way for our girls to get our attention, she could have just arranged for a meeting when we got back :)

they are now in the process of calling all of the relevant people, like they had nothing better to be doing today anyway. At least we know that they are hard at work. this is something that I might have arranged from over here to happen over there to ensure that they are actually working!!!

This is the second attempt to send the email, I had actually just about finished the email and then the internet connection was broken and I lost it all so now I am feeling a bit jaded so this one will be a bit shorter, it never sounds as good 2nd time around.

We had brekky early this morning - about 8am and had eggs and bacon. Yesterday I had nasi goreng which was a pink colour and a big sloppy fried egg on top, well I am not going for that again, even adding sambal (chilli sauce) couldn't save that disaster. On our way back to our room to brush our teeth we saw where the food came from. They are in the middle of adding to our hotel and the staff have to carry these huge trays of food through the muddy building site, it has been raining here so it is a very sloppy place to walk thru. I am sure this wouldn't be allowed at home.

Also on the way back to the room we booked in for a 3hour Goddess spa package for tomorrow, I mean we have been working hard and who wouldn't need to have a 1hr facial, 1hr massage and 1hr hair treatment. All for $20 I don't wnat to hear any comments from anyone that it won't make a difference or that we really are on a junket here.

Hope this finds you all well

Love Anita and Sue

hi from us in Bali Fri 23/06/2006 10:07 PM

Hi Mor-Mor and Per

Hello from Bali, we have been very busy, so I haven't been at the internet as often as normal and it is also so slow that it is almost painful.

Mum and I have moved hotels today to a place that costs about $25 per nite for a deluxe room including breakfast for two people!!! But it is a bit strange. The outside has a nice verandah with two nice wood chairs and a table to match the floor is tiled and then inside we have the same table and chair setting along with two large beds that seem to be nice and firm (won't know until we sleep in them) the whole room is tiled in large sandstone square tiles including the walls these are placed in a diamond way so there are lots of diagonal lines!!! There is a desk/mirror affair with another wood chair and then there is the wardrobe with the hand basin opposit it, it isn't in the bathroom?? in the bathroom there is a large bath with a shower over it and then the toilet with a special telephone shower thing so you can wash your bum really well - might need this if we get bali belly!!! then there is another shower right next to the toilet (like your downstairs bathroom) but it doesn't have a shower curtain - neither shower does so you can imagine what a wet mess there will be, we will have to take the toilet paper out when we shower so it doesn't get wet!!

We have been busy making lots of orders and learning new words in indonesian.

Don't tell the boys!!! we booked in for a 3 hour goddess massage - I told everyone about it in the general email, but the boys wouldn't believe that we would actually do it at the begining of our stay. It started with a nice warm foot bath with frangipaini flowers floating in the bowl and then we moved into the room and had a 1 hour full body massage, I had to ask the girl to go softer as she had strong hands, my back still hurt last night in some places. Then when that was finished we had a 1 hour facial where they basically clean your face with lots of nice stuff and then leave a face mask/cream on your face for 1/2 hour where you nearly fall asleep. They then take that off and put more cream on your face then we were ushered into the hair salon for a one hour hair spa which was a shampoo and head massage with a deep conditioning treatment that was then put under a hot blower thing while they then massaged our neck/shoulders and arms. Finally they washed it all out and then blow dried our hair. This 3 hour spa cost just under $30 each!!!

We are off to Ubud again tomorrow to do more orders. And now we are going to the laundry to get our clean clothes and then have some dinner.

Hope you are both well

Love

Anita and Susanne

HELLO FROM BALI Tue 27/06/2006 11:17 PM

Hi Mor-Mor and Per,

Well we have been very slack this time with keeping in contact with everyone, we have been very busy and we have also had the flu quite badly. Mum lost her voice for 24 hours and I lost mine for about 36 hours, you can bet that I was nearly going crazy!!! Mum wasn't too happy either, because she had to do lots of the negotiations, something she usually doesn't do, so it was good practice for her.

We haven't had to use the shower thing on the toilet yet. And the shower was as big a disaster as we thought it would be. The water runs all the way to the door, lucky the bathroom is about 5cm lower than the rest of the room.

We have now finished all of our work up on the mountain. We have a bit more to do around the Kuta/Legian area and then we are finished, I hope this will be the case tomorrow. then we have the big job of packing everything up.

We fly out of here at about 10.20pm on Friday night and get into Brisbane at about 5.25am so the boys and Bella will pick us up and then they will go to work, leaving Bella with us.

There seems to be lots more tourists around, as many as I have ever seen here, so that is good for the people here. Although they all still cry poor house, I think that it is in their nature to be a bit of moaners when they don't get what they want, which is your money, they are always claiming that we are trying to bankrupt them when they are trying to rip us off in the batering process, something that I don't really like to do.

Well not long now until we are home, I am sure you will hear from us before we leave. I hope that you are both well and enjoying your beautiful beach view every day, it would have to be one of the best beaches I have ever been to. The ones here are not that nice, I am sure that the europeans think that its great, I think that we Australians are so spoilt with our beaches and the beautiful clean air and open spaces.

Lots of love

Anita and Susanne

HELLO FROM BALI AGAIN!!! Fri 30/06/2006 12:04 AM

Hi Mor-MOr and Per

Well this is our last night in Bali and then tomorrow night we spend the night on the plane going home.

We have been very busy again today, mainly packing and of course booking in our foot spa for tomorrow at 11am so you can be thinking of us at 1pm tomorrow your time, just starting our 1 hour foot spa.

Still have a bit of packing to do, mainly just juggling the stuff through our bags and makings sure that the weight is evenly distributed and that our carry on luggage looks small and light when in actual fact it will be very heavy, we are bringing back lots of sarongs and jewellery and some clothes for the shops.

It is very tiring trying to do all of this, It will be very nice to be home and have it all behind us, preparing for the next trip!!

Dad tells me that you have been playing naughts and crosses with bella on msn, sounds like fun, she loves doing that and I think that she loves telling everyone the family secrets and what we have all been up to.

The weather here has been really good, the first few days were really rainy, but the rest of the time it has been great. Not a bad winter, in fact quite nice. It has been very hot again today and a bit humid with a storm that will happen during the night.

The beauty of Bali is that everyone is so happy, the locals and all of the tourists, you miss that when you come home, because everyone is so bogged down in the daily grind they don't have time just to enjoy the day.

Well I suppose I will manage a quick txt message tomorrow, bieng that it is our last day here :) and then we will be home, we are going to Andrew and Geraldines for a party on Saturday night Andrew turns 40 so it will be a party. I am sure that Mum and I won't be the life of that party, on the other hand give me a few glasses of red wine and that could all change.

lots of love and hugs, see you next week some time (invite us over!!!)

Anita and Susanne
